One Unselfish Act
When the time has come,
for my spirit to fly free.
I humbly ask for just one,
unselfish act from me.
My presence will not be missed.
No one will remember my name.
A person, sadly dismissed.
Found lacking, in life's game.
I hope that once, in my past,
I gave but did not receive.
Expectations surpassed,
new ability to achieve.
A word, phrase, or comment I made,
found a soul, silenced by pain.
Bringing comfort, lending aid,
to give freely for another to gain.
Perhaps, I will then find the peace,
That's been denied me for so long.
Inner turmoil will finally cease.
With burden lifted, I can move on.
