One More Rib
Adam needed a companion - so God took a rib
and made one for him - one less was a good price,
even then paradise would be half as nice,
now instead of once, nearly everything was twice.
We know that companions can be difficult - tempt you with
the tree of knowledge and hanging juicy apples,
and suddenly slap on all kinds of tricky labels,
but all is not lost as simply time tells.
However, as time went by, birds began to fly
and nobody wanted to die, only make love with a sigh;
did we really need a friend - could have kept the bone,
self-sufficient, autonomous, intact and home-alone.
Perhaps next time, everything should be the same height,
and live their lives - no one scared of a spider bite.
