one flew over the cuckoo’s nest

by ego upstaged, soul’s light caged
we wandered earth like a lost ghost
fire of desire in our heart raged
for peace we wandered coast to coast

synced not to music of the spheres
by ego upstaged, soul’s light caged
we sought solace among our peers
mental battles ceaselessly waged

in the flow of time, body aged
we were but a dead man walking
by ego upstaged, soul’s light caged
stark haunting with dark fears stalking

shift to stillness made us stronger
heart sang, when from thoughts disengaged
choosing to suffer no longer
by ego upstaged, soul’s light caged

We must let soul’s light escape, and let loves glow saturate around us living moment by moment. Fly over and away from the nest, indeed!

affirming again and again that we are spirit having a human experience, one day we see light of Self, when ego cravings recede, ego simply being identification with body-mind.

Excellent Quatrain poetry, Unseeking Seeker. I like the way the line, "by ego upstaged, soul’s light caged" was repeated in each verse. Have a great week, my friend. Bill

Ah, that’s the form of the Quatern, a sliding refrain
