Notes About The Poem

On the Pond

Drip, drip drop
plop, plop drip drop
plops the rain
on the pond with a drop, drop.

Then as fast as it came
stop, drops stop
no more drip drop
the rain hit a stop plop.

This drip drop is what I hear everyday. We have the rainy season here. This year, there is unusual rainfall in our area. In this short poem of yours, I can hear the lovely refrain of rain.

Thanks, and I love watching the rain on the pond. The day I was talking about it rained for all of 5 mins I think.

A drip dropping, flip flopping, pop popping...fun write, Miranda. Just what I needed this morning after a rainy yesterday (lol) Thanks also for my wonderful placement in your latest contest. Much appreciated :) Charlie

I love rain coming in when I am watching it land on the pond in my back yard. Thanks!

Such a fun and playful rhythm, Miranda! It captures the sound and sudden stillness of rain perfectly—like a little musical moment in poem form. Loved the “stop plop” ending!
