On the Mysterious Death of a Half-Grown Kitten

ON THE MYSTERIOUS DEATH OF A HALF- GROWN KITTEN He was so beautiful, young and strong I’d fed him just that day Interrupted his play Oh, he was hungry! Cannot believe he’s gone If he’d been sick – many days in a sorry way On his porch bed fated to stay His death – a blessing if quick Oh, God, let not his death been a violent one Not by poison, rock, or pellet gun I’d like to think God looked down and Found him good too good for Earth Too good to spill of blood I’d like to think some angels came to Earth And seeing such innocence gathered round Took his soul to some higher region To bless worthier folk the reason

Yes, we can only hope this for good animals and humans alike, Daver. Some are even too good for this world!

Such a sad poem that brought tears to my eyes, dear friend. Luckily, my cats always lived long, full lives. I hope you are right about God just finding this young kitten too good for Earth, so he sent the angels to fetch him. Beautifully written and I'm sorry this kitten's death made you sad, Daver. I do know of one killed by poison from a lady's neighbor, but children can be reckless with their rocks and B-B guns. Love, Carolyn

Compassion shines through on this tender verse. The little ones are so vulnerable to the ravages of anything and I feel your soul shining through in this Daver. Luv Elizabeth

how I would like to think if it that way as well... this is such a touching poem for that kitten--I also don't know much about karma, but let's just say that I am very glad you didn't act on those thoughts of yours, Dave :) hugs to you
