On the Edge

The street light shined dimly Its shallow shadows slithered The icy covering now bearded In a five o’clock shadow His hand faltered The easel rattled His brush refocused On the edge of the wind

Beautifully done, John. You've described a passionate artist and other creative types...putting aside distractions of weather and time and refocus. There's just never enough time for me to be creative. Have a pleasant day, Sara

We all have a finite amount of time to bring life to our art before our night falls.

This has a very lyrical touch. I love the way you’ve played around with words and also how you’ve painted imagery. So picturesque! Some shadows can be shallow and they slither in when darkness befalls, love it!! Nailed it

If I comprehend... your description of the building of ice on the streetlight shadows its light as a beard darkens a man's face by afternoon. I'm a titch in the dark about your last verse, unless the artist just had an epiphany of some sort.

I just write 'em I don't explain 'em. OK,,,Ok... in the city the street lights cast a dim yellow light, the "five o'clock shadow" is the dirty, ice crusted city snow. The artist, as all artists, is attempting to capture "a moment" in a bitter cold, windy night.....I think....but then again.....hmmmmm
