On Reading About John Duns Scotus
A great philosopher was someone who
I read about. He was a Scottish priest.
Before today I never even knew
a thing about this guy now long deceased.
Philosophy is sometimes hard for me
to comprehend, and John Duns Scotus taught
ideas that I don’t grasp easily.
His “univocity of being” thought
is too abstract for me, but it seems great.
However, “dunce” was used in ridicule
of John by those reformers who had hate
for his beliefs and saw him as a fool.
He argued God’s existence and free will.
For those good thoughts, he is remembered still.
