Notes About The Poem

Water Lily, Water Flower, Poetry, Saying

On Poetry

Poems are often born in the first line.
The words that are to come will soon ensue
and whether it is free verse or a rhyme,
it’s written still to reach the heart of you
a strong emotion deeply to pursue.
The poet seeks to touch your very core
with feelings on a topic to explore
to share a sense impression that they’ve had
experience that happened once before
which might have made them happy or quite sad.

We must appreciate what has been shared
the metaphors, the similes and such
and understand that someone deeply cared
to reach us with their words so our hearts touch
by saying something moved them very much.
So, when your soul has been revitalized
by words that touch the mind as well as eyes,
now you will also sing a brand-new song
with dreary days becoming clear blue skies
where absolutely nothing could go wrong.
