On Loch Ness

Moonlight falls upon the dormant land Where peaceful calm reclines Upon the shimmering lake Ripples form and then reveal A dark silhouette rising out of water. ------------------------------------------- Contest: Out of Water Sponsor: Sheri Fresonke Harper

Just what is in there lurking so deep. Once the Media knows shall 'Loch Ness' keep. Maybe it's better if stays under the waves, to deter money media and it's disgusting crave. It's another part of Scotland that has that mysterious aura about it. The other for me is the 'Isle of Skye' I do hope your footsteps grace said island Paul. Kind regards always, James :) :)

The monetary comment is a worry if found what people would do to make money out of it, and not purely from the mysterious aura you mention. All around the 'Great Glen' know and respect all whom travel to catch a glimpse of 'Nessie' - to see kids staring out at the expanse of 'Loch Ness' is a joy to behold. I was one of these kids. One day maybe I'll get to visit Malta, as it's played a part in my life. I can't speak for the IOM, but Skye, terrific place. Kind regards, James.....

Thank you for your rhyming reply, James. Nessie brings in a lot of money, whether it exists or not....that mysterious aura has a lot to do with it. My wife's g'parents come from the Isle of Skye and the Isle of Man. We plan to go and visit both islands...one day! All the best:) // paul

I published my first book a little over a year ago. Kind of a late start at 52 but I am glad I went for it. The book started out at 75 pages and thanks to a mentor it grew to 320 pages. I didn't think I had that much to say *lol*.

No, Richard....52 is not a late start. I wrote lots of poems when I was young and many were published in several anthologies, but today I wish that I had waited longer before publishing; age and experience are necessary for works to reach a certain standard. So I say you did well to wait! Congratulations on your book...320 pages is no joke!! If it's on sale online I would be pleased to have any relevant information so I can look it up. // paul

What kind of books have you written Paul. Are they available as an ebook?

Both books are in Maltese; one is a children's story called "Marina" which I wrote for my students; the other is called "Hal Safi" and it's the fruit of years of research...the history of the village where I live. I have 1 Amazon ebook in English, "Meander" (Dec 2014); several of the poems on it already appeared on Soup. Thank you for the interest. // paul

Thank you Richard. I've written a couple of books before, but this one is a translation of a true story that captured my attention about 40 years ago; took me all this time to finally translate and publish it. // paul

Yes, it's true about Ogopogo; I read about it when researching British Columbia, while translating into Maltese the book written by Sergei Kourdakov: "Forgive me, Natasha". [incidentally it's being printed this week.] // paul

Oh Paul, beauty, calm...Your words flow with grace...even the eerie element of the dark perfected it. So effective I could picture it clearly in my head. Made me think, at times there is something hidden in what we see as beautiful. But, I don't mind I would like to revel in the beauty that I see!
