an eagle hovers holding a ribbon of blue. . . to my state I’m true on a field of white its name is the color of my proud beating heart liberty we prize and our rights we will maintain. . . haiku - worthy lines! I did too many for the contest. To see the one entered in Skat's contest, see the poem beneath this one.

This is really a great write to honor your state's flag my dear friend, Andrea. I'm sure it will also do well in the contest. I like it so much and I thoroughly enjoyed the read. Good luck in the contest, 'though I know you don't need it. Thanks a lot for sharing and also for your nice comments/shared idea on my flag poem. God bless! love lots and biggest hug, Leonora

Thank you, Andrea, for this excellent poem about my Home State. A 7. You make me proud to say I'm originally from Davenport, Iowa. And still have family there, although I live in San Diego now. ~~~Blessings, Darlene

Proud of our state, Iowa, yet we weren't born there and neither of us have lived there as long as we have lived other places.

Jenny, you are wrong. Dori and I are the true Iowans!! I was not born in Washington STate as you surmise. I was actually born in the city of Washington, IOWA, and then coincidentally was moved to Washington STATE. Mom had left Roger for a while and gave birth to me in her home state. You and Melanie were born in Washington! Yeah, it's sad that more than half my life has now been spent in this state of Utah. I wish I had stayed put in good old Iowa!! then again, maybe my life would not have been as full. I'll never know!
