On Halloween Night
On Halloween Night
As in the darkened chambers they slowly dressed
becoming beings that scared even themselves -
witches, zombies, vampires, werewolves, full moon tressed
gathering in dimming light amid the smells
concealing within a graveyards silent night
the sights that silence the hallowed eves church bells.
Serpent-like they move veiled from denials sight,
apparitions at each unsuspecting door,
moving in the shadows - fearful of the light.
Shadow creatures endless quest for more of more,
end their roaming at first sign of yawning dawn,
counting pieces of their booty on the floor.
Crawl away to distant dens with curtains drawn
as the howls of distant demons fade to morn.
