Joseph's Double Swap Contest  ~  July 13, 2025

On golden shores waves were crashing Beams of sunlight, I saw flashing and stopped rowing. I stilled my oars. Waves were crashing on golden shores Gulls shrieked while the wind was blowing I stilled my oars and stopped rowing. Morning skies turned blue as dawn peeked While the wind was blowing, gulls shrieked. When daylight broke, I thought of you. As dawn peeked, morning skies turned blue, And I recalled when last we spoke. I thought of you when daylight broke. It'd been too long. I was appalled when last we spoke, and I recalled my words seemed to be a swan song. I was appalled. It'd been too long. I felt remorse upon the sea. A swan song, my words seemed to be. Reality hit with full force. Upon the sea, I felt remorse.

Lin, your talent and ability to do things like this never cease to amaze. I particularly like how I was anticipating a happier ending given the setting. Nonetheless, it was a very enjoyable read. I could practically feel the water and scene. Smiles!!

Not all endings are happy ones, Duke. The realities of life never allow fairytale endings for everyone. Thank you for the compliment. ;-)

You rose well to the challenge Lin, just checked the requirements, I don't think I'd have the patience. Good in the contest. Tom

It's the challenge that prompted me to write this one, Tom. I've not placed well in the past in Joseph's contests, but I write about topics that interest me. I suppose that makes me a self-imposed something or other. ;-)
