On a Bird 2
(ON SEEING A BIRD FREQUENTING A PERCH BEHIND MY WINDOW)
I loved and wept
Dreamt and lost
Like a flower in heat,
Summer’s thirst.
The withered petals
About to mingle in dusts
Jamming the eyes
Like wanton sorrows.
Loved a bird that
Like afternoon wind
Chilled my skin
Breathed my breath.
Parch black
Carboning my heart
Its fish like tail
Sailing me far
Love ‘s here dearer
Like Olive fur
A bird ‘s better
Than a bud of butter-
Till I discovered
the beauty perched
My afternoon sight
Only to prey on the bugs
Buzzing over an exhaust duct.
