Ninth Place

Old Tools of an Old Man

 
I stood in the door of dads work shed. The sun was pouring in the windows and dust was floating.
In corners cobwebs hung like wisps of threads.  On his bench an untouched coffee mug and a pen,
a sketch of something he had been working on.  Tin cans held nails and screws, hooks held his 
old, well used tools. It looked like he had just stepped out for a minute but he would not be
coming back for he had left for heaven this day.

as a child I sat
on that wood bench bathed in sun
and good memories
