Oh Ye Lil Bird If ye could have only witnessed The search of your mom's desire To find a safe place to build a nest With the finest twigs available She seeked through the woods In hope to give you a place of rest That you might be safe from danger She cradled your egg in excitement Oh ,the joy of her living life came to be The day you came out that shell She had already gathered food in preparation When you cried out she was there Ready to take on an enemy are To come feed and bring comfort Oh Ye Lil Bird if you could stay this small But you soon notice your wings flapping You learn to jump around in your home While mom was gathering food You would start to stand up on the edge In hope for the day you might fly Mom is never far away and she noticed So she comes to your side to give support Oh Ye Lil Bird the first time you tried Those wings were a flapping with might But only keeping you in circles in downward flight Hitting softly the ground as mom picked you back up Before the enemy could attack and flew you Back home for another try for it takes practice Oh Ye Lil Bird you would not give up the fight I wish you could see the joy in your eyes That day when all that practice come to be That you would soar with the wind beside mom For you have learned the wisdom of these wings And have gained knowledge of who is the enemy That one day you might repeat this life to another

It's neat how you specialize in Free Verse. Sweet poem. Reminds me of a short clip I watched yesterday, because I was writing a haibun poem about the speaker-- "A True Entertainer" (2/9/2023). It's so sweet, he drops a lil worm into its mouth and tells it he's the birdy mommy hehe. If you want to look it up here's the info... "The Birds of Eden Hill" Marc Massery 186 views (YouTube) Aug 20, 2019 "Me feeding some birdies I found in Stockbridge. Sometime in 2018 or 2019. I'm their mother now."

Good to meet you, Stephan, thru this narrative vision of new life, from fledgling to flight. This poem has its own great moving thrust! My niece has a 4-Mon-old son. Today I read her detailed account of his growth, activities, sounds, etc, & her being there to watch, feed, comfort him. Your poem seems a good metaphor for the care of all life’s young. Superb flow here. Bravo! Christmas blessings 2-U!

Blessed are those who have a loving mother that cherishes every new detail of raising their child and as a father of two sons I can see it takes teamwork, but I can tell how by watching my wife you all have a love that's astonishing, my mom was great, but for those who have not a loving mom, in this poem I was wanting to let them know their God that created all life, has a love that gives new life and spirit , and will never give up on them for He seeks for them to receive those wings and learn of Him that gives peace and joy to those who think it's not possible, I had a wonderful mom but her love could not keep me from the chaos of this life only the love of Jesus pulled me out of it with a new spirit , love and peace for all, and to receive clarity of what He shall place within us and what's going on around us,. Love my friend take care

A mother's love knows no bounds. Even when she is away, she will have a thought about her little ones. Reading this poem I am reminded of my own mother. I wonder if I could repay half of the love she gave me. The little bird's mother is presented as thoughtful as our own mothers.

If we can see this much love in a bird , how much greater is the love of the one that created all these things , and the love of a mother is something very special that I wish these kids could see : ). We don't realize it really till we have our own kids ,. : ). Sadly in USA mother's love from people getting harder to see all the time, alot of grandmas raising kids here it is becoming to look normal , many of these kids are just growing up to quick learning of the bad things in the world to soon
