Oh So Tender

In the glow of firelight oh so tender I watched him realize with surprise That he liked the green of my eyes Witnessed only by faint light of ember The person he asked about me Had a slim sense of humor A great grandma with tumor And was filled with jealousy My then boyfriend whispered about it all night None of it my fault Rubbing wound with salt I decided to take my final swift flight Our meeting at an innocent bonfire So romantic and real Gave both of us a great feel My new husband and I, now inspire! Thank you Connie. I do not do "love" poems often, but this idea hit me, and my muse is so efficient and goes ahead of me often into places I think we cannot go.

Lovely poem. I especially LOVE that part, "I watched him realize with surprise/ That he liked the green of my eyes", because it reminds me of the 'dawning' look my husband had when he realized I was "the one"! Even after all these years- every once in a while, he still looks at me with that certain sense of wonder- and it's priceless!!
