Oh, Go Away Yesterday
Oh, go away yesterday!
Seven, very restless and acting mostly on a whim
He’d always called on dad, to teach or play with him
But always got “I’m busy”, with dad’s countenance dim
Oh, go away yesterday!
Consumed by conflicting emotions, days would go by
His tender heart would not to forgiveness, say goodbye
Yet, at every call, dad’s words would force him into a cry
Oh, go away yesterday!
Feeling unloved and forsaken; with no fatherly guide
He’d left home a young teen, to take destiny in his stride
And in never being dependent on another, take pride
Oh, go away yesterday!
Grief-stricken and now grey, dad had come to bond anew
Pondering, “will I be received or paid my neglectful due”?
Breathless, son had said to self, before “dad, I love you”
“Oh, go away yesterday!”
