I needed a break from all the recent insanity in this world, so I sat down to write.. First poem came out dark as hell and I may post it here someday--but not now.
I went to the kitchen got me an ice-cold Dr Pepper and sat there thinking about my life and my many past relationships with women--especially in my young ,ignorant and wild days of youth.
Which brought me mentally to this one beautiful angel that I lost due to me being me!
At that moment the first verse came to me like a thunderbolt from out of the blue. After that the rest just flowed, even the repetition , which I decided to leave in as is and not edit out a verse or even a single word of this piece.
Dedicated to her memory, a beautiful lady that truly deserved far better than me...
She moved away, I lost all contact and knowledge of her, after that and I hope she found that better man and lived in true happiness....-

Oft I Wonder Can This Fairy-Tale Truly Be True In my heart of hearts your red rose yet bleeds longings in delicate touch, with urgent needs How can I refuse your dance in our night dreams goddess of such grace and beauty supreme Your soothing voice waking moon's brighter glow ignites desire's fires, lets our passions flow My enchantress, my angel of sweet release deliverer of love's gold and heartfelt peace Giver of hope, along with dawn's majestic rays bringing in paradise wherein our love plays. With haste I beg for each night's early fall as you descend into our palace waiting halls Oft I wonder can this fairy-tale truly be true am I alive, living and loving each night with you? Oft I wonder can this fairy-tale truly be true am I alive, living and loving each night with you? In my heart of hearts your red rose yet bleeds longings in delicate touch, with urgent needs How can I refuse your dance in our night dreams goddess of such grace and beauty supreme? My angel, tell me why you first went away broke my heart turned this old world darker grey Oft I wonder can this fairy-tale truly be true am I alive, living and loving each night with you? Am I alive, living and loving each night with you? Am I alive, living and loving each night with you? Robert J. Lindley, 8-17-2017

Wow Robert, this is outstanding! Such beautiful emotions expressed that truly speak from a loving heart. The wondering is gut wrenching, the 'what ifs', 'if onlys' , would they have made a difference, mattered, been accepted and how would lives be altered to have ventured another path? A full fledged whole body, soul and spirit write Robert. The questions at the end are devastatingly raw with vulnerability abound. Excellent my friend, excellent:)
