Ode To Marina

"ode to Marina"
as its been awhile I thought of saying hello and reminisce of how it all began
years ago filling in for a coworker who would later fill in for me you placed a call
such is the initial encounter that started the journey involving many talks to follow
unknown to me saturday night now brought on a new significance and essence
for you had strength and courage to call once again not knowing it would be me
I remember the initial call and the saturday night rings surrounding your next calls
I told you then as I would tell you now I am not a doctor and would never mislead
you weren't looking for a doctor and all you needed was to talk to someone new
saying hello today I recall our path your name your story along with your great pain
always were you thankful for our visits by phone time after time and call after call
it is I who am thankful for the outcry and trust you placed in me week after week
since leaving my post I relive saturday nights and the scene surrounding our calls
I truly hope you understood when I told you our connection had to come to an end
you wanted to meet face to face but it was and is unwise for such a happening to be
my wish is that you came to terms with pain and grief and now recognize your worth
your life and being was and is there you just needed to look beyond all the suffering
thinking of when that initial call came through with you on the other end my thought is
I will never forget you or those saturday nights and the scene surrounding our calls

This entry is a tribute to a person I shall name Marina
For her protection I can not expand upon the story to give clarification
Just know this is a tribute entry and thank you

It is nice to share your experience in a tribute to the one who touched your life in a certain way and it seems you did the same for her. To me this reads as if you were one of many attending phones on a hotline and maybe you were instrumental is turning someone's life around, in the right direction. Nicely done Lisa.

Hi Chris. Hope your day went well. You are partly right, yes it was a hotline however it was only me on shift. Her pain was so deep she needed to find the answers on her own. To this day I wonder of her and her life. As always Chris it is an honor to have you visit my page with generosity. Thank you. Enjoy the night.

This is a great tribute, and also I think you are a very wise person. Very wise, Lisa.... Everyone has their own pain and problems. And part of their path in life we can walk together, but then we have to say goodbye, and face out problems and future ourselves. Very moving and very emotional poem, Lisa. This gave me a good feeling inside, even though the message you had to give was a difficult one.

I know Lisa, I am sorry if you misunderstood. I understood perfectly what you meant and what you are writing about. I love poetry for being able to put into words what we cannot say aloud in daily life.

No no no. Not me. But thank you ever so much for such a review commentary and generosity that I can't put into words. The credit belongs to the person I call Marina. I just so happened to be there on the initial call and the calls that followed. Enjoy the night and this art we call the written word.

If there is a better word, I don't know it - to me this is 'streaming' a story very well, a compelling, fast read. Lisa, it is a profound thing - the pain that may exist in people.

Thank you very much Doug for such generous feedback and review. Honestly and how true the pain people endure. This person had much pain. Thank you once again.
