Ode to Loud Snores

When he sleeps, he snores so loud
It's like hearing a train plough through the crowd
The lilting cadence of his loud snores
Makes me squirm and heightens my nightmares
You might think I should be used to it by now
At times, it's not jarring, but soft like falling dew
His mellow snores stay with me through the night
Don't you think he sounds hot?
His sonorous snores wake me sometimes mid-sleep
Give me gorgeous gigantic earbuds or dose me with dope
But without his soothing snores by my side
I'm unable to rest peacefully indeed
I think his thunderous snores act like a melodious lullaby
Look, my eyes are drooping! ~ Can't you see us matched evenly?

For a contest on the worse verse I think this is the best.

I sure can, but for a moment I thought of my pug's snoring, it can wake the neighbors ! I like your line right above your last line. Maybe you're right, I should think those same thoughts too and sleep more soundly. zzzzzz

In many ways, snoring has been the cross I too have had to bear, so I read this with trepidation.. yet there is a gentle submission within the frustration that encourages. Thank you for articulating such a preciously personal part of your life. May peace, comfort and sleep over-take you! Blessings Cx

If he’s not snoring, he may not be breathing…

I can relate! I've tried earplugs, -- my hubby has snored loudly since day one....been 43 years now

Dear Joanna, pure delight. I love how you let the annoyance and the affection sit side by side, because that’s the real truth of sharing a life with someone. The humor is warm, the tenderness is unmistakable, and that last line made me smile big. Blessings, Daniel

Well written! My grandmom moved out of the room she shared with granddad because of snoring. In my case it is restless leg; Tim bucks like a bronco, tossing me in the air. We have to use comedy because serious is just not even close to ideal.
