Ode To a Traffic Cone

Oh noble cone, knight fluorescent.
Rooted, proud and irridescent
Soldier, friend, stalwart defender,
Stood firm betwixt chaos and fender.
Your pedestal, foursquare foundation. Beacon bold stood at your station.

The wizard's hat sent to protect. Calm, aloof and circumspect.
A cone, a clone, in columns prudent. The holy grail of drunken student.

So we salute you pointy friend, our angel to the journey's end.
Magnificent, little band of brothers. No thought for self, only others.
So much more than shimmering plastic, you are the one true light fantastic.

Thanks Cheryl. The cones only come to life after dark and the sight of their annual migration to the galapogos islands is a wonder to behold . Tom ??

I have also used them as tees when I coached a tee ball team in little league. This one just caught me at the right time and had me laughing out loud. thanks for entering the contest.

I like it! : ) Give us more. Those five lines read very well, good meter, rhythm, pacing, etc. Humorous or not, people are ready for it.
