Ode To a Snail

Slug or Snail Slow you trail The slimy path you leave upon bark or rail or along my pail Glue from your tail? Ah bind my mail? Be my pet not pet peeve Don't crawl up my sleeve. Go mark some leaves. Don't glue my nail! How do I guess your emotions? You never smile or wail To thy Creator I whisper, all hail

Cute. Reminds me of my Snail story: Answering the doorbell, but seeing no one there, the man picked up a snail from his porch and tossed it across his yard. Three weeks later, he answered the doorbell again and saw the snail on his porch. The snail asked, "What was that all about?"

Wonderful poem reminding my childhood with keeping in mind strange children folk about the snail, then a great poet from my country, then the famous Songs of Innocence and Experience. Near the holiday, I recognize you glued my feelings at your verses.

I love this delicate little rhyme. A mark of a good poet is the ability to enlarge ordinary things to a scale and description that can't be overlooked. I'll remember you and this poem whenever I see a slug and its sticky trail.

Okay, here's my reply to your nice poem about the lowly snail...Hail the Snail By James E. Tate Answering the door, but seeing no one there, He picked up a snail and pitched it in the air. Three weeks later he again answered the bell Again on his porch was a little snail. The snail asked with a shout, “What was that all about?”

This was fun to read. I have plenty of those little slimy creatures painting glistening patterns on the walks and patios around my place. They may be slow but are quite destructive. Yep, definitely don't want one of those to crawl up your sleeve.

Warm thanx poetess, didnt know they were destructive. I became curious as ti how destructive they can be. They are quite harmless here in the gardens though. Perhaps they differ.
