Ode To a Day Long Forgotten

Grasses on the hilltop bend though never break Willows by the river, they may sway and even shake Tears from my heart flowed freely from my eyes the day they shot Bobby Kennedy the day our best hope died ______________________________ If you have never watched/listened to Bobby Kennedy talking to thou- sands of African Americans in Gary, Indiana on a campaign whistle-stop, reasoning with them to stay calm the day MLK was shot, google it, watch it -- you'll see what I mean, I think.

I was wide awake watching Bobby via TV in Chicago. Maria was just an infant. The mobs backed Jack and Bobby.with millions of dollars. Neither were saints. Both boffed Marilyn. (Whose suicide is highly questionable.) Nobody ever talks about the Jews who were killed in the fight for Civil Rights. Their names are in graveyards with zero credit. I was so looking forward to voting for him. Conspriracy theories abound. Sirhan was a nutcase! Period! Oswald? Avowed Communist. Huggs, Pangie

Yes, Gershon. Nobody anymore gives any credence to MLK! Or those peaceful Blacks, instead it’s violence, defund the police, BLM, Antifa and Equity now, MLK was the Overcomers, not Bobby. And free everything? RFK was not disciplined nor John in bed hopping! I felt sorry for the wives and kids. Men skip over these sexual rendezvous, don’t they? While the wives stay faithful. You see whites are hated now and so would Bobby be! This is the era of Kanye West. All that money poured into inner city schools. And the kids cannot read. But on to changing genders.Loathing PD, and any-color not back or brown. Kings principles are burnt in the trash at Antifa riots.. involving death and destruction. The Jews will forever be under attack.but nobody cares at all. Most loathe Israel but adore Arabs who flew into the Twin Towers! Yes, they do! We won’t be a country much longer, it’s sad. And the violence grows while the D’S do nothing to stop it but honor it?What would Bobby do! Huggs Pangie

Thanks for recounting your recollections of the Kennedys and that troubled era, P... What I remember most about Bobby is that, unlike John and (later) Ted, he actually was open to changing himself for the better and did so. E.g., he entered the Cabinet as a whip-smart, smart-ass 'tough-guy' attorney, out to get Jimmy Hoffa (which wasn't such a bad thing, actually). He mellowed, however, and stopped looking at the world as a place where nice guys finish last. By the time that goon Sirhan-Sirhan shot him, RFK was able to combine his insistence on discipline and law and order within the family and the society with a real understanding of the problems minorities faced back then (1968) in 1968. (By minorities, I include Jews, Japanese, and others, as well as blacks). Peace, Gershon

I remember that scene you are talking about Gershon. He was a great man. They illiminated him like they did his brother because if Bobby ran he would have won. I sincerely believe based on the many years of research that I have done that Our government was behind his assisnation Sirhan Sirhan was a patsy just like Oswald was. It was a very sad day when he was killed. The nation was shocked. Thank you for sharing my friend...

Agreed. Kennedy would have been President -- not Nixon. And America's history would have turned out... who knows?!

I was too young but I have watched much about the time period. My dad beeped the horn and had President Kennedy turn around and wave to him.

Ladies, ladies: I am talking about Bobby Kennedy, NOT John! Bobby was a real 'sleeper,' as they call 'em. He had John's ability, with a lot more fire in his belly. Too bad that 'aggrieved' Palestinian (Sirhan Sirhan) shot him dead. People should remember Sirhan Sirhan, very representative of today's angry Palestinians, when they foolishly open their minds to thoughts of a "Palestinian State' next to Israel. ~ Just sayin,' Gershon

Hey Kim being your poet- grandma, I saw John face to face, no wonder women loved him. Quite a looker, he was. I even heard him speak as I was at the DEM.Convention. I thought I would pass out, just looking at him! He was only one of the few Presidents I saw in my life, awesome. We, the people, who stand against tyranny, censorship, and are anti- propogannda are the true heroes of America. It still is the best country. If people don’t like it, try Venezuela or Cuba or Russia! How about China? An ungrateful country?…..yes, many are that! Huggs, Pangie
