October Sighs

October, for the disappearance of summer, sighs We feel it in clouds drifting across the skies, The birds have gone south to winter abodes Flowers fading, Mother Nature shifts modes, Shivering chills linger throughout a cool day Children no longer want to go outside to play, A bright spot appears long about Halloween As we begin to prepare for the holiday scene, We are entering the serious shopping season Hearing “Christmas is Christmas for a reason,” In some ways, October is a month nondescript A reminder to keep our light sweaters zipped, For it is the precursor to cold months ahead With all the issues of winter we sorely dread.

October is one of my all time favorite months. I got married in October, my husband's birthday is in October, and I adore Halloween. "In some ways, October is a month nondescript" So this does not resonate with me.

Enjoyed reading your lovely October lines, Milt: ‘ the disappearance of summer sighs. Hurricane Ian quickly changed the entire mood……but oh what could have been. Blessings, SuZ

Its coming Milton all we can do is prepare. They are predicting a real bad winter. I hope they are wrong. I live close to the Canadian border. Fourteen miles from it. In the beautiful Adirondack mountains. I live in a little village of Dannemora where the two inmates escaped from, Matt and Sweat. So we were famous for a little while. We get a lot of snow and sometimes it is very difficult to deal with so preparation is the key. You have to stay one step ahead of it. Thanks for sharing...

I can sympathize with you, Michael. I have friend who live in Minnesota and they tell me how important it is to be prepared.

Nondescript... October just a radar blip... I don't know. I think there's some magic to squeeze out of here somehow, somewhere. ~ Over the Rainbow

I can practically hear the sighing of the wind as leaves float gently down. Marvelous images. Evelyn:)

Thank you so much, Evelyn. We're about to October already. Where did the summer go?
