Obsession

Obsession (Spenserian Sonnet) You came with songs of love’s gifts to bestow Bewitching me with soothing siren song As whispering winds over ripe corn blow, Charming me with songs you have sung so long. In your love’s rhythm it seemed I belong, As Aphrodite’s messenger you came, Calling with the euphony of your song, Swift I came when I heard you call my name. Obsessed by your symphonies I became, On shifting breeze, too readily deceived, On your enticing words I made my claim Binding me by the threads of love you weave. Leaving me with unfulfilled passion’s pangs, Misled by obsession for songs you sang. Barry Stebbings 01/19/2020

a super smooth flowing sonnet Barry and i love the sprinkling of alliteration, you make this form seem so easy but I struggle with sonnets and love related poetry:-) hugs Jan xx

Thank you for your appreciation, Jan. I enjoy the Sonnet form but they can be quite a challenge. // Barry.
