Notes About The Poem

David Sunflower Seeds 36-Bags Nacho,0.8oz. by DAVID SeedsImage result for image of david's nacho cheese flavor seeds

Around 2010 (not sure when) for some dang reason, David's company stopped selling nacho cheese flavored sunflower seeds. I searched everywhere, even up in Salt Lake and I only found them almost sold out in some gas stations. I have no idea why they were discontinued. Today I took a look and saw that they can now be ordered online. But why Utah won't sell them, I don't know. They have everything else, from dill pickle to Jalepeno!! I am obsessed with things sometimes, so this poem is about my frantic search to get all the bags of these seeds I could find in Utah County. Woe to anyone else out there who enjoyed them as I did. I would eat a few bags a week for my snacks and in a year the ones I found ran out!

Today I do not eat flavored sunflower seeds. The seed itself is healthful  but not the flavorings they use. I now buy the healthier plain salted pumpkin seeds to replace my much loved snack of flavored sunflower seeds!

Obsessed With Seeds In Nacho Cheese

I’m noticing the seeds I like to buy
are running out in flavor “Nacho Cheese.”
They’ve got sunflower seeds in Ranch, but I
require my nacho cheese ones. Geeez Louise!!

I look it up on Google and I find
they’re selling out. I run to every store!
They’ve got that dang “Dill” flavor, but my kind
is not in stock and won’t be any more.

I know a service station that’s still got
those seeds I love. I’m off! The hunt is on!
I’ll buy up every bag in every spot
where I can locate them before they’re gone.

Some other stations carry them. I dash
from Pleasant Grove to Provo, brandishing
my credit card. I buy them. In a flash,
all seeds in Nacho Cheese are vanishing!

I’m driving south as far as Mapleton!
The chance of finding bags of them is dire
for fellow addicts. I’ve found sixty-one
to last a year before they all expire!

A true story that happened to me about five years ago

This is a charming and delightful romp and something we can all relate to ... for me it's Smart Food, (though there's little that's "smart" about eating it, lol) ... that is the best-tasting stuff I've ever munched on, and I'm leaving for the store NOW to get more, lol. Loved this, my friend! :-) <3

Yes! A particular company used to put out a carmal flavored drop that I loved,, but discontinued them I suppose because they were outselling a competitor's candy. Who knows? I also. besides your verse, love nacho cheese chips. Love, daver

Wow, Andrea, once you get the bit in your teeth, there is no stopping you! I had a similar experience with a childhood candy favourite of mine called 'Spanish Galleon chewing tobacco'. It looked like tobacco, but was strands of a sugary brown cocunut confection. I travelled all over the county looking for it, only to find a shop had a jar of it two miles away. Duh.... Viv x

I can appreciate the frenzy you were in to find the special seeds, Andrea, and your poem gave me some welcome laughs. So glad you found them online! Just recently, a store where I bought my hair spray closed and I couldn't find it anywhere. When I found them online, I ordered 14 cans - only because they wouldn't let me order more. Obsessions can make us crazy. Enjoyed! Good luck in the contest, Carolyn

Dang obsessions. I have always hated how they quit making the things I really love and yet keep making the stuff I don't like at all. Love the way this poem flows.

Naturally, Darren!!! I got through two bags a week and I probably ran out of them before the year was up. Also they would not taste good after a year. They go stale. EAch bag is quite low calorie, only 600 calories for an entire bag! Best snacks in the world. I take two hours to eat half a bag. What a nice low calorie way to feed one's face!!!

Well, I thought I knew what to get you for Xmas, but no more, huh? I really enjoyed this sharing of a personal 'nightmare' and know I've experienced the same, but can't recall what edible it was! Very well done ... CayCay
