O'Bright Star, Thy Bright Gleamings True Hearts See

O'Bright Star, Thy Bright Gleamings True Hearts See O'Bright star! will thy gleam this sad heart sate with splendor of glow, quench our dying thirsts Thy exquisite beauty, mankind debates as well, bold shining depths of thy starbursts. Why gift that grin, that Chesire cat-eye glow. As riddle we are never meant to know? O'Bright star! will thy eternal gaze blink a galactic voice thy wisdom impart Are thy infinite gleamings - wine to drink, as a soothing balm to heal broken hearts, Shall ever thy distant voice our souls hear or will we destroy earth with hate and fear? May we in our pitifully sad state. Reach, touch thy heart's glow, to truly relate? Robert J. Lindley, 9/10/2020 Sonnet, A tribute poem, To Poe's, poem, titled, "To The River".. Note- Poem as composed for my son and used in my new blog 9/10/2020... https://www.poetrysoup.com/poetry/blogs/blog_detail.aspx?BlogID=36450&PoetID=51137

This is so beautiful, upbeat and positive with such great imagery. This is my kind of space poem. " a galactic voice thy wisdom impart", yes, there is so much to learn from the stars if we will listen with our souls; things come from Gods creations when we silently sit and observe with an open mind. Beautifully penned Robert, a "fav" for me.

Thank you my friend. As we look out into space-we see eternity shining in the universe. We see light from stars long since dead. And in that viewing we see God. And we must understand we are destined to one day be a part of that vastness--all in accord to his divine plan.. God bless..

Thank you my friend. Yes it is true, I more oft than not compose on the spot as verses flow into my brain. I have done this as a matter of course now for about 49 years and still counting. Sometimes the flow stops, I record that fragment and come back months/ or even years later, to resume and finish the piece. I am now working hard on the many fragments I have stored. God bless..

Thank you my friend. I have a habit of writing immediately my poems--as if I pause/or delay--too oft most of the original fast flowing thoughts vanish. I then strain my brain to remember until it hurts. To avoid that pain, I stop and ink the verses. Oft pulling over from the road to do so.. God bless...

Thank you my friend. Truth is all of the poem just seemed to flow out--like water poured from a bucket. I wrote in one quick go. And stopped with that closing couplet. It is as if it was waiting to be written.... God bless...

Thank you my friend. I wrote what came to me after reading Poe's magnificent and very inspirational poem , title, " To The River".. It struck me with some thoughts and a calm feeling, a serenity and my heart just went with that flow. God bless..

Are you sure not Keats, instead of Poe?

On the subject of KEATS. I do have a few old poems , where I composed my offering in honor of Keats, perhaps written in the mid/late 70's . I know I have them stored in some of the old boxes of papers in the basement. As I saw them when we bought and moved into this new home about 4 and a half years ago. Even meant to separate them to post here but somehow I forgot in all the hustle, bustle , many things to get done moving and instead I just stored them away...

You have a point my friend. My poem is more attune to the magnificent Keats poem you referenced in your link. But it was Poe's magnificent poem titled, "To The River ", that inspired mine. Although in this old poet's heart and brain Keat's poetry has always inspired me and must splash out thought as I write I suppose. But no-- the poem you cited was not in mind at all, when I wrote, " O'Bright Star, Thy Bright Gleamings True Hearts See". And truth is I was reading Keat's poetry just a few weeks back. God bless..
