Nothing Like Family At Christmas

Welcoming hearth warms us as we tromp in the snow. Darling children in gorgeous Christmas outfits, as we all know. They are passed around from Aunt to Uncle, especially the baby. This Christmas is the best says Old Auntie June; I think maybe. One chair is empty, but we all know he’s with Jesus in Heaven. So even though the grandchildren now number six instead of seven, We give thanks for the blessings we have had the rest of the year And kiss Angel Boy’s stocking; he will always remain forever dear. My sister Marcie is standing behind the beautiful tree. I put my arms around her, and tell her how glad we will all be, When her other child, Thomas, is home safe, from his midnight flight. I stay up with her, drinking cocoa, enjoying her company, well into the night. There is nothing like family, my husband says, going to bed. He likes the downstairs bedroom with no light; but he sleeps like the dead. There were so many happy shouts and moments of laughter and cheer, Glad that my sad sister finally agreed to return home for Christmas this year. We have had rough time, the whole family has been tremendously sad. Her son with the cancer was such a sweet eight-year-old, name of Chad. When the other children began telling stories about the funny things he did, They waylaid so much sadness! Leave it up to a kid! We laughed so hard, and held each other on that warm Christmas night. And then her other son Jackson arrived safely on a one o’clock flight. It was the first step to enjoying Christmas for the rest of our lives. Death in the family is not easy; but the wisdom of children help us survive.
