Nothing Happens By Chance.
As I walked along the sidewalk on my way to work
A wizened old man sent me a toothless smile,
A child looked at me through laughing eyes
and I thought my day was fine.
But later yet a woman swore I snubbed her
Did I think I was better than she?
I have no idea how this came about
But she near clobbered me
Enough I thought, enough for today.
I sat awhile, took a few deep breaths before starting off again
Did not help one bit for my troubles started up again.
I twisted my ankle in a pothole..a little boy helped me up.
Needless to say, I went back home and called in sick.
This was not my day, at least not one I’d pick.
I mulled over the day’s events as I lay upon my bed
and after a while, thoughts entered my head,
I learned lessons today, yes indeed.
I hope I remember them well.
A smile warms the heart…thank you old man whoever you are.
Sparkling eyes…..joy radiates from within us.
Be courteous….. others shrink from a serious face
The pain in my ankle….. reminded me that I am alive.
The little boy helped me up….a helping hand appears when you need it most.
Know too… nothing happens by chance.
There is always a message or a lesson to be learned.
