Not Sad
I set aside the book I was reading from my shelf
Listening to the chorus of the night by myself
The chirping of the crickets and cars whizzing by
And I gaze at the one, lonely star I see in the sky
No say I, I am not sad
Yes I am alone, but I am comfortable with the world and am glad
I listen to my heart beating out its tone
And I do not reach for the company on the other end of the phone
I look inside myself and search into my mind
And much to my surprise I think that’s peace I find
No say I, I am not sad
Yes I am alone, but I am comfortable with myself and glad
