Not Enough Regret-Five Words
The Five Word Challenge Contest
Sponsor: Timothy Hicks
The day was slow and the night was longer,
I felt too much ease, yet not enough regret,
As the angels slept my emotions got stronger,
I realized that morning I’d never forget.
He had a white aura with a tiny hue of pink,
Strong arms to embrace my every need,
I held a stare so strong I couldn’t even blink,
As I awoke in the morning I felt my soul bleed.
This affair felt so right I just couldn’t let go,
For my Nicholas was everything essential,
At first I had intentions of going with the flow,
Then I realized my actions were consequential.
Celebrating romance when married to another,
Seemed amiss considering I broke my vow,
I had really grown tired of going undercover,
But my true love remains with my lover, anyhow.
I couldn’t handle anymore abuse from my husband,
He had left bruises on my face and in my heart,
I thought in time I would have grown accustomed,
But deep down I knew a new life I should start.
The obscuring seemed to get easier in time,
When I was gone he would easily forget,
I found happiness that Nicholas was all mine,
I felt too much ease, yet not enough regret.
