Not a Prayer Against the Mantis

Good Lord, Mama Mantis creeps
up behind and takes a nip
that stings sharp before I fall,
supposedly dead.

Fakeout! I still have my teeth
and I hear the words, "Bite me!
Wanting to give her a nip,
Alexa B.'s bit!
