Not a Piece of Cake

Roller skating is not a piece of cake Bruised knees will need some icing When you a rolling tumble take Roller skating is not a piece of cake, Your balance is like an uneven bake Even if a piece of it is so enticing Roller skating is not a piece of cake Bruised knees will need some icing! Thank you, Terry. I really enjoyed writing this one, especially using words that have a double meaning, like "icing."

Congratulations on your win. What a  "Fun" write. As a kid a did a ton of roller skating. Now if I did it, I would need to be covered from head to toe in some icing. Have a blessed/weekend................

I used to rollerskate a lot, too, on the sidewalk as a kid and in the rink as an adult. Deb and I went skating one night a week. It's great exercise, but now, I'd break most of my bones and wind up an invalid!

It is "not a piece of cake" but after you master it, it sometimes feels like it.

Absolutely. After you master it, it flows as smoothly as warm icing!

Nice job of meeting the criteria for this contest, Milt. Nice work and fun poem. I love roller skating and ice skating, bruises and small cuts included (when trying pond ice hockey). Have a great week my friend, Bill

Thank you, Bill. I had to give them up some years back, as well as my love for tennis and golf. Just am not physically able to do them anymore. Deb and I skated one evening every week for quite a long time. It was wonderful exercise and a good time together. After that, we took ballroom dancing classes for a while.

This took me back to when I was 17 and first tried roller skating with my GF then. Never got good at it but was able to stay upright.

I'm so glad you had that experience, rob. It's a marvelous sport, but it takes a long time to master it. I'm glad you got to the point where you were erect more than prone!

Yup. 'The icing on the cake' belies the yawning chasm underneath. ~ Angel food or Devils food. Pick 'em

Thanks. It took me long enough to come up with something and then when I got it, it just rolled out! (chuckling)

Like how you've mixed the two Milton. Roller skate I can, ice skate a big no no. Tom

Me too, Tom. Deb and I used to roller skate once a week on our date night. I tried ice skating but my ankles were never strong enough to do it well. Most don't realize how strong figure skaters ankles must be!
