Nostalgia Leads the Way

We save remnants from our past
As if precious jewels, we guard them to the last

Won't part with them for millions, even billions
Hand them down as heirlooms to wide-eyed children...

Nostalgia leads the way
  Sentiment rules the day

While ideationally we may be far apart ~
We are all conservationists at heart

Yes! I am conservationist at heart. I often think about my collection to be curated - my son is very organized and tidy! How to convey the meaning of things to the next generation? This poem does a good job of expressing that wish!

It's different in todays world. Once it's 6 months to a year old, it's time to get rid of it. My kids don't want anything I have that want sell. lol Collections are becoming a thing of the past. I've been giving everything I'm not using away to anyone that has a use for it. Even free doesn't work half the time. Off to the church, goodwill or community discount store. Thanks for sharing our ways my friend. Bill

I continue to feel sorrow for my children when they have to deal with our stuff. My wife is of course convinced they will want all of it.

I certainly believe this is true from my experience, gw. It's awfully hard to throw something away, even if it has worn out its welcome or its usefulness. Good write.
