Northerly Freeze

Spring foiled again by cold air North westerly breeze unfair Will the plants survive today? Red ripe tomatoes soon come our way?

Sara, A factual portrayal of unsettled weather conditions with a hint of optimism. Very well done, Howard

Why, thank you, Howard. I appreciate your nice review. 'Tis been a long time since I wrote it. My husband had probably already put out plants in the garden, and I was concerned that a cold snap would kill them and it probably did kill some of what he had planted. Saa K

Phyllis, Your area's temperatures are probably much lower than we get here, but we did get freezing on Saturday night, Sunday morning but it is about 72 today after a 40 or so start to the day. We don't get very much snow here but sometimes snow, ice, sleet in the winter. Thanks for the visit. Sara

We are experiencing the same spring delay here. Yesterday it rained mini hail. I don’t dare look at the violas I planted in my fairy garden. Brrrrr. Stay warm. SuZ

Suzanne, It did freeze a little last night for there was a thin layer of ice on the birdbath but my husband thinks his planting are okay, but we probably won't be able to tell for sure until later today or in the morning. Violas are so nice a common name for them here are Johnny Jump Ups. They look so similar to pansies only smaller. I think they can take a little cold. Thanks for the visit. Sara

Valsa, If there was a good breeze and the temperature did not drop to 32 or lower they might be okay. I think there was a breeze all night but I don't know if the frost landed or not. Thanks for the visit to my page. Sara

Sara, you've done an excellent job in this new format. In recent weeks, the climate has been extremely variable. Your plants will live and flourish despite the odds!

Thank you for your prediction. We will not know until later today. I think it only got down to 34 but I can't tell for sure if there was frost or not. Maybe not. I know those plants got a good chill. Thanks for the visit. Sara

Rico, If my husband could have made a living doing it, he would have. He plants a family garden and gives food away to others(in the past) but this year probably will only have enough for us because of his age and health. Thanks for stopping by. Sara
