SPOILER ALERT: The final scene (very touching)

The LEFTOVERS played several seasons on HBO and recently finished for good. It's the story of what happens when 10% of the earth's population simply disappears (all at the same time) and the "leftovers" (those that remain) are left wondering what has happened. Where have the others gone? How do they go on? This series is pyschological and surreal as it attempts to explain the inexplicable and the manner in which different people cope with the loss of loved ones. It is similar to the famous series LOST in that it has a lot of good character development yet is so strange that we cannot really understand half the time what is real and what is not real! It kept me hanging on, nonetheless. I am glad I saw it through to the end. Unlike the series LOST, which made me feel totally disappointed by its ending, the Leftover's finale was amazing! (The story of Nora and Kevin is just one part of this multi-faceted series)

A good, strong man she found, but prior grief consumed her soul, and Nora could not stay. Pretending her own death, she was a thief who stole his heart and then ran far away. Years passed. He looked for her with strong belief she had not died. How happy was the day he found her, for her healing had begun, and Nora’s war with sorrow now was won! June 9, 2017 for Janis Thompson's Ottava Rima Contest Also inspired by final episode of HBO's "The Leftovers"

Just 8 lines in which to summarize a whole story is not easy...you deserve a round of applause, Andrea! This poem is one of the best examples of Ottava Rima that I have read. ~ The Leftover's finale is beautiful, especially the pigeons going back home. ~ Regards // paul

Never saw " The Leftovers ", but from your poetry, it has the elements of most of the movies on Lifetime, good luck with the contest.

It was NOTHING like Lifetime, Frederic. It was very surreal, like a twightzone kind of thing. Like the series Lost. It never really made sense but it was still enthralling. I loved the ending. I remember being so disappointed to see the end of Lost but at least with the Leftovers, the ending made some sense!
