Nodding Off

Nodding off is a big part of my life now Seems I've reached that magic age Sit down to watch my most favourite show And wake up much later in a rage My favourite show, damn well missed it again Haven't seen it for maybe a year For all I know they cancelled the damn thing Been one of my very worst fears My biggest scare is nodding off at the wheel Happened once, scared me to death Woke up with a start, but still on the road Pulled over as you might have guessed Sat there shaking uncontrollably for a while Till I was ready to get back on the road The first and last time it happened to me Still a horrible feeling of forebode © Jack Ellison 2013

Very good Jack, but all too familiar. I often think (while reading the same book a second time) that as good as I'll ever be, I already was. Had the nodding off thing a couple of times--near catastrophe once. Watch out! Oh, I posted another quatrain; your inspiration haunts me.

This happened to me too a long time ago. Middle of the night, I ended up 7 miles past my exit in the middle of the highway at 2am. Never again. Kudos to you for this.

Seems it's happened to everyone that replied... so it must be a pretty common occurrence. Pretty damn scary... I think I must have soiled my undies!!!

The only thing worse...would be to wake up to see Dragon flying at you! Yes, it can happen! Think of that when you drive and I guarantee you'll never fall asleep THERE again... I passed out at the wheel once and ended in oncoming traffic... Fortunately, it was at a stop light, so every one just honked... No one checked on me! It was my heart... Needed a pacemaker... Didn't drive til I got one... Thank goodness I didn't die. They might have sat there honking throughout eternity! Dumb Clucks!

The Dragon flying at you would definitely be worse than ending up in the oncoming traffic!!! So I was going to ask if you died... silly me! I didn't either! Hugz xoxoxoxo

And I thought Dragon was dumb... Those other drivers made him look positively SMART!
