Nobody Prays For the Police

They'll pray for a thug
a murderer and thief
a lost dog-a rare fish
but never the police...
They'll pray for
a two-timing ho ho
a mad clown on death row
but you'll not hear a peep
when it comes to the po po.
They'll pray for a pedophile
and the criminally insane
but never to those that
walk the beat for our sake.
They'll pray for harlots and addicts
senatorial warlocks and congressional witches
but when it comes to the police
you'll hear only crickets- - - - - -

Most Christians I know pray for everyone, and we must teach that. I feel bad for the Christian you know; I'll pray for her/him. I first heard the words po po on Madea, Tyler cracks me up! Happy Holidays!

Hello I.A.A, thanks for reading my poem This poem is not about excluding anybody from our prayers its more about not forgetting to pray for our brothers and sisters in blue who lay it on the line for our sake-everyday. I'll also pray that everyone embrace diversity of thought in the coming poetic year and beyond. By the way a strong Christian is never afraid to Say Merry Christmas! So Merry Christmas I.A.A

Anthony, I'm not sure that is quite true. I know personally that the police are often prayed for by individuals and congregations. My son is a retired policeman and currently an investigator. He is a Christian, and I know he is prayed for frequently. All of the others you mentioned also need prayer...my, they really need prayer!

Its not my problem if "they_ know where I'm coming from or not. I just write what I feel.

One should always beware the "broad brush" of generalities, Anthony. Yes, I know I am "smart enough" to know where you are coming from, but many who will read this poem may not be. They will not see beyond the generality, I'm afraid. 'Nuff said!

It's obvious I'm using my artistic license and painting with broad brush strokes but I think you're smart enough to know where I'm coming from. and yes you're right everyone and everything needs our prayers.. even blind cave fish...but I save my sparkly prayers for those who I feel are most deserving. best wishes
