No Title, Yet - 17

I’ve spent my whole life trying to forget the past, Hoping as time went by that I wouldn’t remember. They love that I have for you will forever last, But when I look at you, I do remember. The horrible abuse we suffered when we were kids Is something that no child should be made to endure. We wanted to run away, but we never did. We prayed for someone with a heart that was pure. It seemed that every day we lived our lives in fear, Walking on eggshells, waiting for the hammer to fall. Friends and neighbors seemed so far, but lived so near. We had lots of family, but no one we felt we could call.
