No Longer a Prisoner

Seems like all I could see was the struggle,
haunted by ghosts that live in my past.
Bound up in shackles of all my failures that I'm being reminded of,
wondering how long it's gonna last.

Then YOU look at this prisoner and say to me,
"Child stop fighting a fight that's already been won".

Now I am redeemed and YOU set me free.
So I'll shake off these heavy chains
and wipe away every stain
and know that I'm not who I used to be.

This is ME.

Yes, for a time we have chains until we look to God who set the prisoners free! Hugs

Amen! That moment of realizing the chains were never permanent changes everything. Was there a specific season in your life when that freedom became real for you? If you don't mind sharing :)

This poem speaks to the kind of healing that doesn’t come from fighting harder, but from realizing the fight has already been won. No Longer a Prisoner is about release, redemption, and reclaiming identity beyond shame or past failure. It’s a reminder that freedom often begins the moment we stop resisting grace. Where in your life are you learning to stop fighting and start receiving freedom?
