No llores por mí Costa Rica
Don’t cry for me Costa Rica
Me llamo Cabuya de la familia Agave.
My name is Cabuya from the Agave family.
Yo tengo hojas largas y verdes con forma de espadas dentadas como chorros de agua de una fuente.
I have long green leaves shaped like serrated swords shooting out of a fountain.
Estoy de guardia en silencio por el portón de parque paraíso
I stand watch in silence by the gates of paradise.
Ocupándome mis propios asuntos viente cuatro / siete.
Minding my own business twenty four / seven.
Yo soy el que saluda pacíficamente a los transeúntes.
I am the one who peacefully greets passersby.
Di-s me eligió para hacer esta tarea.
Hashem chose me to do this task.
Un día vinieron los trabajadores de MOPT (Ministerio de Obras Públicas y Transportes) y cortaron muchas de mis hojas sin ninguna buena razón.
One day the workers from MOPT (Department of Highways) came and cut many of my leaves without good reason.
Ay! Que dolor!
Ouch! What pain!
Ahora estoy triste y fea sin appendices.
Now I’m sad and ugly without appendages.
No llores por mi Costa Rica.
Don’t cry for me Costa Rica.
La verdad es que he cumplido con mi deber.
The truth is I’ve done my duty.
A lo que largo de mis días de existencia.
All through my days of existence.
Ahora mantén la distancia.
Now keep your distance.
PURA VIDA, La Vida es Buena es el saludo que se usa
pero No Mas PURA VIDA!
PURA ViDA, Life is Good is the greeting that’s used
but no more PURA VIDA!
Esto es cierto, creerme o no?
This is true, believe me or not?
No llores por mi Costa Rica cumplí con mi deber
ya jamas.
Don’t cry for me Costa Rica I did my duty
now never anymore.
