No Acting Necessary
She took my hand and kissed me;
I said, “No acting necessary,”
So we took off into the night
Nothing to guide us but the moonlight
She slapped and screamed at me;
“Did you ever love me?!”
I turned to her and responded bluntly
“No, acting was necessary,”
Tears in her eyes, mascara running
She wanted answers as I walked around humming
A tune so cheerful for the mood
A tune too cheerful for “a dude”
She called me up late last night
Tears in her eyes while the moon shown bright
“Again, did you ever love me?”
I responded, “No, acting was necessary.”
Her parents yelled and slammed at the door
They heard her scream and fall on the floor
Her dad got a hammer and banged at the knob
Her room was a mess, most like a slob
But cleanliness was a talent of hers
So why would she let her room conform?
It was the depression and sadness she couldn't stand
Her parents looked inside her hand
Her wrist was slashed, her pulse was nothing
Her death had come and gone already
Her father took what she was holding
And thought of the Boy as he was scolding
A note they found with words just scrawled
Messily written in an angry brawl
With nerves of steel but still showing worry
Her parents read on, “No, acting was necessary.”
