Notes About The Poem

nirvana all the way around

Their gracefulness during dressage
Brings us bliss like we're on a hajj
We know to repay

Thanks Andrea, we do like to be pampered at times. If we get that treatment, we're certainly lucky. Hope you are feeling good these days!!

Oooh, the horseshoe is nailed into the hoof which i read is insensitive. I never understood a horse's biological dynamics, he can fall asleep standing up on delicate legs. Racing horse deaths are down by 33% finally! Tis blissfully done, Duke enjoyable read.

Thanks Anaya. I've been away a few days. Yes, they have no feeling in the hoof and a farrier can hammer nails into them with no injury. It is funny how they sleep standing. I am even more amazed at birds that sleep on one leg. The variety of life in nature is astounding and we need to savor it....not be selfish and not do things that solely work for our own short-term benefit. I think you are certainly well aware of our responsibility to the earth at large. Smiles!!!

Somehow I missed this one. Proper care of their hooves is very important, though not quite this luxurious. Fun write, Duke!

Lin, it's an art form in itself just taking care of those. The whole shoeing thing is remarkable. I'm thinking about all the blacksmiths who did all that work and did it with pride and care over the years. There are still some around. Of course, riders also play a part in caring for the feet and other parts as well. A lot of work indeed!!!

Anne-Lise, I imagine they do. I did see a remarkable demonstration of dressage at a horse recovery farm a number of years ago. The horse was crossing its legs, going at different paces, and moving in every direction. I was absolutely amazed. It takes a very special bond for something like this to happen. Smiles!
