Newly Laid Eggs
She'd already laid her pretty eggs
before I found her nest
in the small space above front door
where nothing can molest.
I was gone from home only a week.
My house was not abandoned,
when she moved right in without a thought
of any rent demanded.
My front door is now off limits for
all my visitors and me,
since we'd be unwilling targets for
mama swallow flying free.
