New Years Eve

A new year is here in all its glory
Time square is swarming with people
awaiting the official word that the old year has passed
Hoping that the new will be better

At the strike of the clock marking the hour
There are screams of happy expectations
Those wishing for wealth and prosperity
Others want good health above all else

There are fireworks and balls of flickering light
The look of awe in the childrens’ eyes
For them this is just a giant show in the cold
For us it means possible dreams coming true

We all look to the new year for something good or new
There is hope for a better future and a reason to go on
There is always a chance no matter how small
Of a blessing or miracle for our new year
