New Year

NEW YEAR snow is melted the ruin that is winter overwhelms my eye beneath the sun trees stand like crowds of ragged beggars the once beautiful is denied all memory of where it has gone the icy house top drippings ping the head stark reminder those cold months ahead but i’ll wait out the next snow the white blanket fall marvel the icy branches wish happy new year to all

daver, sorry to hear the violin is now a struggle for you. And sorry, I didn't know the wise men reference you were making. There I go again, making you feel old! I wish i knew where I could find a poem of yours I have not yet read. I am sure it exists somewhere in your backlogs. I will look around a bit and try to find such a poem. If I don't find one, I'll reread a golden oldie.

Very eloquent description of the melting snow and the loss of its beauty on the landscape. Especially liked your comparison of the barren trees to "crowds of ragged beggars." If only I could visit you to see that next "white blanket fall." Wishing you many blessings in the coming year dear Daver, Carolyn

As an ex-New Yorker living in Israel, your poem made me miss the snow of my childhood. A beautiful poem!
