Neighborhood Prank

In the night came a thud on our roof Seems the rock in a sock was a spoof A young kid had some fun, My Dad got out his gun And the kid running home was the proof.

Fiction, for sure. My dad would have groused, but he wouldn't have gone for a gun!

Perfect limerick in my opinion Mikton , When I first started writing them couldn't understand why they did not place in a contest, then the penny dropped and realised syllables were out. Even now the rhythm can be a tad out but practise makes perfect. Tom

Thanks, Tom. I'm still trying to find the perfect balance between syllable and rhythm. Working with them has made me acutely aware of their difficulty. I am determined to write a perfect one, though, with the correct syllable and rhythm. It'll come.

Go for one of the books you've read.. Like Jack Reacher... even though it was Tom Cruise..

Thanks, Eve. I'm practicing for a contest, but I don't think this qualifies. He wants one about a TV show character, and since I don't watch much TV, that makes it rather problematic. I think I'm getting the beats down.

I'm working on it, Jeff. The limerick is difficult if you want what I'd call a "perfect" one. I read your blog. Still confused! You can have the number of syllables correct and still not have the rhythm.
