Neighborhood Prank

In the night came a thud on our roof
Seems the rock in a sock was a spoof
A young kid had some fun,
My Dad got out his gun
And the kid running home was the proof.

I'm still trying to find the perfect balance between syllable and rhythm. Working with them has made me acutely aware of their difficulty. I am determined to write a perfect one, though, with the correct syllable and rhythm. It'll come.

The limerick is difficult if you want what I'd call a "perfect" one. I read your blog. Still confused! You can have the number of syllables correct and still not have the rhythm.
