Near-Life Experience
Eyeshutters catch remnance of being
Once were, now is
injustifiably different; *****
How man strays off beaten paths.
Cold, stale air in which i breathe
wrapped up in a pretzel-like jacket
amongst other kindred spirits
Unbenounced to me where we're going.
Names leave and faces rendered obscure
Hints that my senses are dissipating
I watch myself watch emptiness
For the last time.
Almost as if i take people with me
In my thoughts, in my souls
But, Ah..., They aren't mine to keep
Just to remember until we meet again
