Naughty Nor Nice

The babes of bigots
rainbows underfoot
appealing smiles
am I doing good
tomorrow’s
curb smashers
our baby gay bashers
innocent enough
believing in Santa
and their parents’ love

Hi Maureen, I did not catch the story that inspired this poem? I love how you contrasted their innocence with what they are being taught. I personally think most intolerance toward others is rooted in fear. I happy to hear your voice again and wish you well.

Hi Nancy! Ottawa news, a gender ideology protest held next to 3 schools, footage of young children trampling pride flags. I agree with you, transgender and drag is being used to fuel fear. It’s saddening and terrifying. Warm hugs and love , xomo

There is love in all facets of this life doesn't matter who you choose to show it to but how you choose to show it. I give it freely to all those that cross my path, that except that it is who I am. I have missed you and welcome you back with open arms ! Your friend A.S.

Amen to that. I do that too, but that, a poem and a flag is not feeling like enough these days, not when protests are being conducted in front of elementary schools. At least the protesters were vastly outnumbered by counter protestors. Hope remains xomo

Kudos to you my friend for taking a stand. Sad to see people bashing others because they are different. A potent write, Maureen.

Thank you Vijay. Flying a flag and writing a poem is as much stand as I have so far mustered, it’s not looking like it’s enough when protests are being conducted in front of elementary schools. It’s mind boggling. sigh Warm hugs xomo

Mo, a powerful poem, sad but true in today's society.

Thank you Tania. Quite naive of me not to expect this to occur in my city, it’s actually a little heartbreaking. Take care, xomo

I really like this one Maureen. Almost has a sense of innocence (perhaps bad word choice?). Thanks be that there is Krampus to weed out some of the undesirables... And thank you for writing this. Hugs..m

Thank you Jeff. I’m a lil beside myself; footage of a protest in my city couple days ago, children grinning, trampling pride flags, looking up at their grownups for affirmation. So disturbing. Such toxicity knows no boundaries. Well, got me writing anyway ;], xomo!
