Nature's Gifts
A rippled breath of calm comes across the tidelands
Rain clouds fold themselves into the rim of the horizon
The sun descends towards a blaze of sunset brilliance
Bringing the nightly patrons with chairs and cameras
Dogs pull at leashes wanting a seaside romp and play
While beach side cafes fill with empty bellies
The storms racing in to erase blue skies with grey puffs
As the temperatures drop jackets zip over hunched shoulders
Beauty sparkles in diamonds on waves shimmering to shore
Of white, grey and blue skyscapes mirrored in shiny reflections
A pod of whales drift about their summer home in lazy circles
Their spouts marking their game chasing a salmon dinner
Just a bit of quiet time for busy lives that came to rest
Given free gifts of nature as she shows her very best
